The Cultural Theory Seminar, Sustainable Development In Taiwan, will provide students with the opportunity to explore and develop their ability to critically research, access and ultimately develop an individual understanding and working definition of sustainability. To that end, progression through the seminar will provide participants with the opportunity to engage local professionals, practitioners and interested citizens in dialogues that will address issues of sustainability, which the seminar has identified as crucial to Taiwan’s present and future development. In doing so, this seminar will encourage architecture, planning, and engineering students and professionals in Taipei to work more closely together, and, to define their work and relationship with society more broadly.
(Ultimately, the seminar will result in the development of a book on sustainable development in Taiwan, which will serve as a resource for collaborative international initiatives toward sustainable development.)
